The 4th of July is just a few days away.  It’s a great time to hang outside with family and friends and enjoy the summer festivities. If you’re anything like us, a perfect 4th of July gathering includes an abundance of sunshine, laughter, and food.

Lots and lots of food!

The food on the grill isn't always my favorite part of a barbecue. Nope! I enjoy indulging in a little pre-dinner snackage.  Pass me the chips and dip, the hot appetizers, the olive and cheese tray, and whatever other goodies you've got to snack on!

Red, white, blue, and a fun snack board, too!

In celebration of all things freedom, liberty, and sweet, sweet snackage, I decided to make a 4th of July snack board that your whole entire red, white, and blue crew will enjoy!

This snack board is a mix of sweet and salty, sophisticated and fun treats all arranged in a clever, but easy American flag design! There's seriously something for everyone to enjoy on this spread like fresh berries, dried fruit, nuts, cheese, and even some chocolate-covered goodies!

So what's the difference between a cheese board and a snack board?  Well, I'm pretty sure that most fancy-pants cheese boards don't have Pocky on them.  Though they probably should because Pocky is amazing!  Plus, if you put Pocky on a 4th of July snack board, it kind of looks like sparklers!  Am I right?

Plus, a cheese board has a variety of cheeses (obviously), meats, nuts, fruit, and there are certain rules involved in creating the perfect board.  Whereas this snack board is pretty much "anything goes" as long as it's red, white, and blue, fun, and easy to eat!

Even though this technically isn't a cheese board, I still included a few my favorite types of cheese.  Because, cheese!

There's a semi-firm Drunken Goat wine-soaked cheese, a firm Balsamic BellaVitano, and a triple crème wedge of St. Andre (my favorite).  All vary in texture and flavor and work well with the fresh berries.  I even cut a few slices of cheese with a star cookie cutter as an extra patriotic touch.
