It's that time during the Halloween season that I start squeezing in as many recipes, DIY projects, and the like into my content.  I am not ready to move on from this witchy, wonderful season into the holly, jolly holidays.  So here is one of two last minute Halloween recipes that I've squeezed into my content calendar.  I just couldn't wait until next year!

After making my Puff Pastry Magic Wands recipe, I was left with a sheet of puff pastry dough.  I immediately had the idea to make some spooky pizza pockets.  Specifically coffin-shaped pizza pockets!  So I bought a coffin cookie cutter and made some easy, cheesy pizza pockets that are perfect for Halloween lunches or snacking!

While you can fill these pizza pockets with just about anything, I added some pepperoni slices to mine.  After cutting the coffin shapes out of the puff pastry, I filled half of the pastry cutouts with pizza sauce, sliced pepperoni, and shredded mozzarella.

Then, I placed the other half of the coffin shapes on top and used a fork to seal the edges.  Then, I used the puff pastry dough scraps to make crosses to place on top.  After brushing each pizza pocket with egg wash, I baked until golden brown.

Whether you're looking for a spooky addition to pizza night, an easy movie night snack, or a tasty lunch with a Halloween twist, these puff pastry pockets are a fun way to enjoy pepperoni pizza!

First, we need to bring the puff pastry dough to room temperature and roll it out into a rectangular sheet.  Use a coffin cookie cutter, or a knife, to cut coffin shapes out of the dough.  Cut small crosses out of the puff pastry scraps and set aside.

Next, we're going to spoon pizza sauce onto half of the puff pastry shapes.  Follow with pepperoni slices and shredded mozzarella.

Place the other half of the cutouts on top and use a fork to seal the edges.  Then, place the small crosses on top.  Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with garlic powder (to keep the vampires away!), and bake for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

Once baked, the coffin pizza pockets will puff slightly and be golden brown and flaky.  Serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping, if desired.

I got 5 pizza pockets out of my dough because I didn't want them to be too thin.  The amount of pizza pockets you make depends on how thin you roll out the puff pastry dough and how big of a cookie cutter you use.
