I have really grown to love Snapchat! I'm not as active as I used to be on Facebook or Twitter. I'm on Instagram a lot, but most of my photos are staged blog-related photos. I feel like I can be myself on Snapchat - even if I'm hidden behind a fun filter most of the time! I enjoy snapping about random parts of my day and places I may go. But the one thing I love most is sharing sneak peeks of recipes and DIY projects before they hit the blog!
On Monday, I shared the recipe for these caramel apple crescent rolls on Snapchat. Originally, this recipe was called "Easy Caramel Apple Croissants." But as I snapped the recipe in real time, I realized that I had made a mistake. While I was in the grocery store picking up ingredients, I accidentally bought crescent roll dough instead of croissants! Oops! That made me ditch the fake French accent real fast!
You might be thinking, "What's the big deal? These look just like croissants!" Yes. They definitely have the same shape as a croissant, but they're not as flaky and light like a croissant. I decided to make due with what I had and turned my croissant idea into sweet, caramel apple crescent rolls. It turned out to be a pretty tasty mistake that possibly worked even better than my original idea!
Easy Caramel Apple Crescent Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 tube refrigerated original crescent rolls
- 1 small Granny Smith apple chopped into small pieces
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- 8 caramel candies unwrapped
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with foil and non-stick cooking spray.
- Add chopped apples to a small bowl and sprinkle brown sugar on top. Stir.
- Open tube of crescent rolls and unroll and separate each crescent roll.
- Spoon a little of the apple filling onto the large end of each crescent roll.
- Add one caramel to each roll. It helps to cut each caramel in half first.
- Carefully roll each crescent roll up and place each roll on the baking sheet.
- In another small bowl, melt butter. Then, stir in cinnamon and sugar.
- Brush butter mixture on top of each crescent roll. Sprinkle a little more sugar on top, if desired.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
Caramel apples are so popular this time of year. Even though they're tasty, they're sticky, messy, and not-so-great for your teeth! Wrap up the flavor of one of Fall's classic treats in crescent dough and skip the mess! While baking, the apples soften and the caramels melt down making these crescent rolls taste like little bites of homemade apple pie!
With Thanksgiving fast approaching, you're bound to pick up a tube of refrigerated crescent rolls to serve with dinner. This year, buy an extra tube to make an easy dessert for your Thanksgiving feast! These caramel apple crescent rolls are best served warm, but they're delicious at any temperature!
