DIY Gilded Animal Storage Box

I don’t know about you, but there are certain catalogs that I love to see in my mailbox.  Z Gallerie’s catalog is one of them.  A lot of their pieces are out of my price range, but they’re often inspiring to me – not just for home decor, but when it comes to my DIY projects.  So while I was flipping through the last catalog that they sent me, I came across a resin crocodile box.  As chic looking as this crocodile box is, it was $50.  I knew I could make something similar and spend way less.

I remembered the round paper mache box I had purchased from the craft store months ago.  I don’t even remember its original purpose, but that initial idea went south for a reason since the box came in so handy for this project!  So I went back to the craft store to buy myself a safari animal.  I couldn’t find a crocodile, but I got myself a plastic cheetah.

When I got home, I got to work with my gold paint pen and painted my plastic cheetah.  As I let that dry, I spray painted the paper mache box in white.  A little E6000 later, I had myself a chic little box that definitely didn’t cost me $50 to make.  In fact, it cost me under $10!
