I don't know about you, but I am not a fan of spiders.  And this time of year, they seem to be spinning their webs everywhere!  But these creepy little critters have become the inspiration for my latest Halloween food creation - Halloween Spider Burgers!  Or burgers with curly fries.

I've been flipping through Halloween issues of magazines and recently came across a recipe for curly fries served in "bloody" ketchup cups.  The way they were hanging out of the cup reminded me of creepy-crawly spider legs.  So I decided to create a spider burger that would be an easy, fun way to dress up a regular burger for Halloween!

This time of year is a fun time to get creative with average meals and turn them into something spooky.  All you need to do to make these eight-legged creature burgers is prepare the burgers as you normally would.  Add cheese and your favorite toppings.  Then, turn them into spiders with curly fry legs and olive eyeballs!

Halloween Spider Burgers

I used ground beef to form my burger patties, but you can use your favorite protein to make the burgers.  We like to spice things up with pepper Jack cheese and pickled jalapeños.  There's no right way to top these spider burgers.  Just don't forget those creepy curly fry legs and olive eyeballs!

The first thing we need to do is form our patties.  You could also use premade patties for this Halloween burger idea.  Then, fire up the grill or a grill pan and cook for about 6 minutes on each side, or to your desired doneness.

If you're topping the burgers with cheese, grab a slice and top the burgers during the last couple minutes of cooking. Want to make the spider burgers even creepier?  Cut a jagged edge around the cheese slice to create fangs.

While the burgers are cooking, prepare the curly fries according to package.  Make enough so you can serve some on the side.  We love air frying our fries.  I cook the fries at 390 degrees for about 8-10 minutes or until they're crispy.

Now we can start putting the burgers together.  Place the patties onto toasted buns and add your toppings.  I like a pretty loaded burger so I added lettuce, ketchup, bacon, and some pickled jalapeños.

Once your toppings are on, place the top bun onto the burger.  Grab 8 curly fries and place them around the bun so they stick out like legs. Then, add olives to toothpicks and stick them on top of the burger.

And that's it!  Serve these spooky spider burgers with extra fries on the side.  Just make sure you eat them before they slink off your plate!
