Let’s Be Content

let's be...CONTENT

As I approached 2015, I chose the word STRENGTH to get me through the year.  Whether I needed it or not, strength was there.  It was there in the work I’ve done, the work that I’ve failed to make a success, the late nights, the early mornings, the disappointments, the wins, the fights within myself (and sometimes the fights within my household), and the constant need to push forward and continue to challenge myself.  It was a good word choice, but I wanted an even better word for 2016.

So I looked back on this past year and all I could think about is how content I’ve been despite whatever roadblocks were in my way.  And there it was – CONTENT.  It’s a word that means satisfied and happy with what you have.  But when pronounced differently and used in different context, it’s also a word that means writing something meaningful.  I fell in love with the word.  My perfect word for 2016.

This year, I want to be content in everything I do.  I don’t want to think, “Well, I could have done such-and-such better.”  I don’t want to feel like a failure or disappointment if and when a plan goes awry.  I want to be acceptant of my choices and continue to move forward with my head held high because at least I’ll know I’ve done my best to try.  And hopefully, in thinking that positively, I won’t set myself up for greater disappointments when things don’t happen as I wish.

On the other hand, I want to share better content with my readers.  My blog has come such a long way in just a year’s time, but it still has a lot of potential for growth.  I want to share more pieces of myself in the stories that I write, the projects that I share, and the recipes that make people salivate (or so I’ve been told).  I want my readers to be hungry for my words, as well.  I want you to get to know the girl behind the blog a little more than her project tutorials and recipes.  I want you to get to know me.

So in 2016, let’s take the good with the bad, try harder, work harder, and walk with our heads held a little higher than last year.  No matter what word you choose for yourself this year, let’s be content.

Have you chosen your word for 2016?
