Nature Ride/Walk

October 28, 2013

I had a week last week.  It was emotional and draining on me all due in part to these lovely things we have called hormones.  So one day I decided to take advantage of the crisp fall weather and take my bike out for a little ride. I was equipped with my camera and full of inspiration.  Off I went to snap photos of gorgeous fall foliage. However, as I rode around my neighborhood, I didn’t find many inspiring trees.  Not even the leaves piled on the ground proved to be inspiring for me.  It wasn’t a complete disappointment though.  I did get a little exercise out of my bike ride!

I left my bike behind, hopped in my car and headed south.  I wasn’t entirely sure where I was going at first.  It wasn’t until “Wish You Were Here” by Incubus came on the radio that I knew where I was going.  The lyrics inspired me to “dig my toes into the sand.”  Well, not really, but I did head to a familiar waterfront.  I snapped a single photo of the water, took a little walk around and once again lost inspiration.  Back in the car I went to search for my next destination.

I drove through shore towns looking for places to stop and take photos.  When nothing was particularly calling out to me, I headed back north.  That’s when the most obvious place hit me–a park not too far from my home!  I parked the car and walked along the river taking pictures.  My Nikon exhausted itself (time to change the batteries), but I continued snapping pictures with my iPod’s camera.  I even found a few treasures to take home and preserve.

My husband is off of work this week.  I hope we continue to have good weather so we can go outside and enjoy the fall air.  This time of year is so pretty.  It’s the last hurrah before it gets too cold outside, although I enjoy winter to its fullest. I’m already wishing for snow (go on and hate me!).
