I. AM. SO. EXCITED!  I am about to be an aunt again any day now!  My little sister is about to give birth to a baby boy and I am anxiously awaiting the call or text to tell me that she's in labor.  But while I wait for that all important alert, I decided to get myself ready to be in full-on aunt mode again.

I'm already aunt to three girls and two boys, but there's something extra special about watching your baby sister become a mother.  And to a baby boy.  I feel like our family is so overwhelmed with females that it's nice to welcome another male into the mix.

So Aunt Jess prep has basically been ordering and buying lots of fantastic books for story time and filling baby boy's closet with the coolest clothes (like a tattoo sleeve onesie, cause that's how we rock'n'roll!).  I've also made him a bunch of baby band t-shirt onesies.  He's definitely going to be the coolest kid on the block!

And with spooky season just around the corner, you can bet that I'll be influencing the little dude to love Halloween as much as his aunt does!  That said, I decided to make myself a new shirt for baby boy's arrival that really...slays.

This Aunt Slays Shirt

This time of year, I'm already basically celebrating spooky season.  So to also celebrate the birth of my new nephew, I put together a "this aunt slays" design in Design Space with a Michael Meyers image.  It's a simple design made on white iron-on and pressed onto a black t-shirt.

To make this shirt, first we have to open the "This Aunt Slays” design file in Design Space.  If necessary, select the entire design and resize it to fit your shirt.  Set your machine and click “Make It.”

Prepare a StandardGrip mat with white iron-on vinyl.  Make sure the image is mirrored and cut the design.  Once cut, weed the design.

I used the EasyPress 3 to press my image onto the shirt, which works through the Cricut Heat app. Power on the EasyPress 3 and open up the Cricut Heat app.  Make sure the Cricut EasyPress 3 is selected and click “Start New Project.”

Set your material, what it’s being applied to, and the work surface.  Continue and send settings to EasyPress.  Then, press the design onto the shirt.

When you’re finished, allow the shirt to set for 24 hours on a flat surface.  Then, wash or wear your new shirt!
