Air Fryer Fried Flounder Sandwich

Have a taste of the Jersey shore anytime of the year with this Air Fryer Fried Flounder Sandwich! The flounder is fried in the air fryer to make this healthier version of a boardwalk classic!

Ingredients

For the flounder:

  • 2 fresh flounder filets
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups seasoned whole wheat bread crumbs or your favorite bread crumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the sandwich:

  • 2 sub rolls
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • Sliced tomato
  • Optional: mayo tarter sauce, lemon wedges, coleslaw, fries, pickle spears

Instructions

For the flounder:

  • Dip each filet into the egg. Then, coat with bread crumbs. Press the bread crumbs into the filet to make sure it's good and coated.
  • Air fry for about 12 minutes at 400 degrees, or until completely cooked through.

For the sandwich:

  • Split sub rolls in half and top with lettuce and tomato slices.
  • Carefully place a flounder filet on the roll.
  • Top with mayo or tarter sauce and serve with lemon wedges, coleslaw, fries, and pickle spears, if desired.
