Ingredients
1/2cupunsalted butteror 1 stick, room temperature
1/4cupwhite sugar
1/4cupbrown sugar
2large eggsroom temperature
1tsp.vanilla extract
1cupall-purpose flour
1/2tsp.baking soda
Pinchof salt
1tsp.cinnamon
Pinchof nutmeg
2applespeeled, cored, and chopped
Optional:turbinado sugarfor topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9x9" baking pan.
Cream butter and sugars together until smooth.
Beat in the eggs, one egg at a time, and stir in vanilla.
Mix in the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Fold in the apples.
Spread the cake batter evenly into the pan. Sprinkle turbinado sugar on top, if using.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the cake.
