Homemade Hot Cocoa Jar

When it’s too cold to go out this winter, stay in and have a DIY “Hot Cocoa and Chill” night instead complete with homemade hot cocoa mix!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. cocoa powder
  • 3 c. instant dry milk powder approximately 3 - 3.2 oz. packages
  • 1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup. mini chocolate chips per jar
  • Generous 1/3 cup mini marshmallows per jar

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, stir together the cocoa powder and dry milk.
  • Add in the confectioners sugar, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  • Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  • Spoon hot cocoa mix into mason jars leaving a little room at the top.
  • Add a layer mini chocolate chips first.
  • Then, add a layer of mini marshmallows before closing the jar.
  • This recipe makes 1 quart sized mason jar and 1 pint sized mason jar.

Notes

To make a cup of hot cocoa:
  1. Add 1-2 tbsp. of mix into a mug of hot water and stir.
  2. Top with more mini marshmallows, if desired.
