Sausage and Apple Wild Rice

This Sausage and Apple Wild Rice embraces the autumn season with cozy flavors. It's an easy dish made with a package of wild rice, Italian sausage, onions, garlic, apples, pecans, and herbs.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Ben's Original Long Grain & Wild Rice
  • 2 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage ground
  • 2-3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup onion diced
  • 1 large honey crisp apple cored and diced
  • 1/4 cup pecans crushed
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. ground sage
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Add package of wild rice and water to medium pot and cook according to package, about 20 minutes.
  • While rice is cooking, add sausage to a large skillet and cook over medium heat.
  • Once sausage is cooked through, 8-10 minutes, add garlic and onion. Cook 2-3 minutes, or until fragrant.
  • Lower heat and stir in wild rice, apple, pecans, oregano, sage, salt, and pepper.
  • Serve warm.
