Ingredients

  • 1 refrigerated pizza dough brought to room temperature
  • 1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage crumbles
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 small onion halved and sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce jarred, or tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup crumbled gorgonzola cheese
  • Pinch of dried sage

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees and place a pizza stone in the oven.
  • While the oven and stone are preheating, stretch the dough on a lightly floured surface and transfer to a pizza peel or parchment paper.
  • Heat skillet over medium heat and cook sausage until browned all the way through. Remove from skillet.
  • Wipe out skillet and add butter. Add onions and cook until onion starts to brown. Remove from heat.
  • In a small bowl, mix pumpkin and pizza sauce together. Spoon sauce onto the dough, spreading it evenly but leaving an edge on the pizza for the crust.
  • Sprinkle the garlic powder on top of the sauce and season with salt and pepper. Then, sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the pizza. Follow with the sausage crumbles and onions.
  • Carefully place the pizza into the oven and onto the pizza stone. Cook for 15 minutes, or until the crust is crispy and golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle the dried sage and gorgonzola cheese over the top.
  • Cut the pizza into 8 slices and serve.
