If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you know that I don’t talk about beauty products and fragrances that often. However, today I wanted to introduce you to one my most favorite fragrance companies, Demeter Fragrance Library.

My love for Demeter’s unique, unisex fragrances has spanned over a decade!  The first Demeter fragrances I ever bought were Orange JuiceGin & Tonic, and This is Not a Pipe.  This is Not a Pipe will forever be one of my favorite Demeter fragrances!

But today, I’m going to introduce you to one of their newest scents that’s launching next month, Jelly Doughnut.  I absolutely love doughnuts as a sweet treat so I was super excited to receive this fragrance!  Since so many of Demeter’s fragrances are inspired by food and drinks, I am also going to share a recipe for easy Jelly Doughnut Holes to coincide with their fragrance launch. How fun is that?

Demeter has managed to capture the classic scent of sweet jelly doughnuts in a bottle.  Just in time for National Donut Day this Friday!  Before I even got my bottle of the Jelly Doughnut fragrance, I knew exactly what it would smell like!  I definitely wasn’t disappointed.

Think of the first time you bite into a jelly doughnut.  Your mouth hits the sugar topped doughnut first and bites into a sweet jelly center.  Demeter’s fragrance smells just like jelly oozing out of a freshly made doughnut tossed in sugar!

We eat with our eyes first, but all of our scents are involved in the tasting experience.  Especially our sense of smell! So I wanted to put my nose to the test and make a jelly doughnut inspired recipe.  The smell of the Jelly Doughnut fragrance definitely measures up to the scent of these freshly made doughnut holes!  No doubt about it!

As for my recipe, this was the first time I made doughnuts of any kind.  So I skipped using homemade doughnut dough and used a puff pastry sheet instead. These super easy doughnut holes were hot and ready in just minutes! I fried these doughnut holes in a Dutch oven and rolled them in sugar while they were warm.  Then, I filled them with seedless raspberry jelly.  These went fast in my house!

  • 1 cup sugar
  • Approximately 1 cup seedless raspberry jam or more as needed

  • Roll each pastry circle into a ball using your hands.
  • When oil is hot, carefully drop each ball into the pot.
  • Fry for about 2 minutes, or until pastry has puffed up and is golden brown on each side.
  • Drain doughnut holes on a paper towel.
  • Once they're warm to the touch, roll them in a bowl of sugar.
  • Fill a pastry bag (fitted with a round tip) with seedless raspberry jam.
  • Gently push the tip into each doughnut hole and fill with jam.
  • Serve immediately.

I had asked my friends at Demeter what fragrances they would suggest layering with Jelly Doughnut.  So they also sent me Lavender and Sweet Orange.  Believe me – all three fragrances smell good enough to eat!

The Lavender fragrance is soft and slightly herbal.  Just like garden-grown lavender!  The Sweet Orange is just like peeling open a fresh orange!  These light, sweet scents are definitely compatible with the sugary, fruity scent of the Jelly Doughnut fragrance!

Check Demeter’s website for monthly specials, free gifts with purchase, and their entire collection of truly unique scents! Look for the Jelly Doughnut fragrance to become available at the beginning of June!
