I haven’t posted a recipe since the beginning of April, so I was well overdue to whip something up and share it here. I got really inspired after shopping for groceries through Hungryroot. And since it’s officially sandwich season again, I decided to put together an easy sandwich recipe packed with bold flavor in every single bite.

We’re talking a kick of heat with a touch of sweetness, a peppery bite from fresh arugula and pepper jack cheese, briny pickled onions, and a creamy garlic sauce to bring it all together. Now how’s that for a comeback?

If you’re like me this time of year, you want to spend as much time as possible outside enjoying the warmer weather instead of cooking in the kitchen. That’s one of the best things about this sandwich recipe. The hot honey chicken is already breaded and seasoned, so all you have to do is pop it in the air fryer, then layer everything onto a toasted brioche bun, and dig in!

I love a loaded sandwich and this one really does have it all. Sweet-hot honey chicken is crispy, golden, and gets layered with pepper jack cheese for an extra kick of heat. Peppery arugula adds freshness, while tangy pickled red onions cut through the richness.

Then, the sandwich is finished with a creamy garlic sauce that ties all of those sweet, spicy, savory, and briny flavors together. Everything gets piled onto a soft, buttery brioche bun with just a touch of sweetness that pairs perfectly with every layer of flavor.

Easy Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich

This hot honey chicken sandwich is effortlessly satisfying and works just as well for a quick and satisfying lunch as it does for an easy weeknight dinner. It comes together quickly, uses just a handful of ingredients, and still delivers that restaurant-worthy flavor.

Start this sandwich by heating the chicken in an air fryer. Set the air fryer to 390 degrees. Heat on each side for 10-12 minutes, or until crispy and cooked through. Keep warm.

While the chicken is cooking, toast the buns until golden and crispy. Spread garlic sauce on the bottom bun.

Begin assembling the sandwich by adding arugula on the bottom bun. Then, place the warm chicken on top. While the chicken is warm, place a slice of cheese on top.

Finish the sandwich by topping the chicken with pickled red onions. If desired, spread garlic sauce on the top bun, as well.

Serve the sandwich with pickles on the side and enjoy immediately.

Hot honey chicken sandwich sits on wooden board with garlic sauce container, bowl of pickles, bowl of arugula, tongs, and white kitchen towel in partial view.
