Thanksgiving planning is underway. My side of the family has decided to celebrate potluck style this year. Each one of us (and there is quite a group of us!) will be bringing a dish or two to our gathering. We've discussed main courses, sides, and desserts, but there hasn't been much talk about beverages. Wine is usually the alcoholic beverage of choice for us - and we'll usually each bring at least one bottle - but I wanted to try creating a seasonal, boozy drink that could easily serve a crowd.
Apple cider is one of my favorite fall beverages! I'll drink it cold, but I especially like it heated up and served with a cinnamon stick. It's also one of the easiest beverages to turn into a boozy drink. A splash of whiskey or bourbon adds a nice, warming touch. Dress it up with comforting spices, a splash of maple syrup, and some fruits slices and you've not only got yourself a cozy fall drink - you've got yourself an alcoholic beverage that's perfect for your Thanksgiving festivities!
What's especially great about this boozy apple cider recipe is that it's easy to multiply, only takes a handful of ingredients to make, and is done warming up in under 10 minutes. If you're planning on making this for a crowd, you can easily whip it up in a slow cooker, keep it warm, and set up a small apple cider station complete with whiskey and garnishes. This way, even the kids at your gathering can enjoy a non-alcoholic glass or mug of warm apple cider.

So if you're looking for one more drink to add to your Thanksgiving menu, consider this whiskey apple cider. It tastes like fall in a glass, is so warm and comforting, and simple to make (or to even cart the ingredients to your holiday gathering). Set up some cute mason jar mugs to serve this cider in if you decide to create a drink station at your Thanksgiving feast!
We all know that Thanksgiving Day is full of hustle and bustle! With so much going on, you don't want extra pots or a list of ingredients hanging around on the counter. This holiday beverage is a breeze to make with minimal cleanup!
To start, add apple cider, ground nutmeg, whole cloves, and cinnamon sticks to a saucepan. Heat it over medium heat just until it's warm. Once it's warm, remove it from the heat.
Now, we're going to stir in the maple syrup and whiskey. Adjust the maple syrup, if necessary. And I suppose you could adjust the whiskey as well.
Divide the whiskey apple cider between mugs or heatproof glasses. Then, garnish with orange slices and cinnamon sticks. Serve and enjoy!
