Today is Earth Day! Hooray! Of course, I try to make every day Earth Day around here cause I'm "green" like that. So today, I thought we'd honor this day when we honor our planet, the environment, and sustainable living by sharing some easy ways to celebrate.
When the weather is right on Earth Day, you can find me outside working in my yard and garden. Then again, I basically do that any day I can this time of year, so that kind of feels like cheating. But there are plenty of easy ways to celebrate Earth Day. So easy that you can continue these eco-friendly habits all throughout the year!
6 Easy Ways to Celebrate Earth Day
So get outside, get active, and let's raise awareness about the environment and protect our planet. After all, it's the only home we've got. And hopefully, you'll want to continue some of these eco-friendly practices every day after Earth Day, as well!

Plant Something
This is my absolute favorite way to celebrate Earth Day! Especially since I'm usually finding things to plant this time of year anyway. If you can't go big and plant a tree, support a local greenhouse or farm, pick up some spring flowers, and plant them in a pretty pot. Not only will they look beautiful, the early spring pollinators will appreciate them! Click here for some garden inspiration.

Take a Walk Outside
If the weather allows, take a walk outside in nature. Observe all of the flowers and trees that are blooming, admire the wildlife around you, visit a park, or find a new hiking trail. While you're out walking, pick up any trash you might see and dispose of it properly when you get home.

Create an Upcycled DIY Project
I love a good upcycled DIY project! Taking something old and turning it into something new again is so much fun! You can turn a woven basket into a planter, turn old jars or bottles (heat-safe) into candles, dress up kitchen towels using wine corks, or even make easy dog toys out of old t-shirts.

Ditch the Disposable Items
By now, pretty much everyone has a fancy water bottle to hold their drinks. But if you're still using plastic bottles, consider ditching them and using a reusable water bottle instead. If you're worried about drinking from the tap, you can get a water filter pitcher or faucet attachment to help filter your water.
Consider switching to cloth towels instead of paper towels and napkins. Need a new storage solution? Consider using beeswax wraps. They're a natural, reusable solution. And, by the way, I sell some in my Etsy shop!

Get Thrifty and Buy Used
I've always been a fan of yard sales and rescuing pieces from the curb, but over the past year or so I have really gotten into thrift shopping. I found a few local thrift shops that I enjoy shopping at. During my visits, I've managed to find home decor, toys for my nephew, clothes, and books.
I've also been checking Facebook Marketplace for a lot of things before going out and buying new. The last thing I bought from there was a 3-tier shelf for $5 that I turned into a grow light station to start seeds indoors.
Speaking of books, I also love going to the used bookstore. My local used bookstore accepts books for credit, which I'll immediately use to grab some new books for my to-read pile. Visiting the used bookstore is one of my favorite ways to discover new book series and authors.

Go Paperless
If you haven't yet, opt in for paperless delivery of things like bills and bank statements. Instead of grabbing notebooks and post-its galore, consider using your notes app on your phone instead. Also, make sure to unsubscribe from things like mailing lists and catalogs. With online shopping, there's really no reason for paper catalogs. But every once in a while, one shows up on my doorstep.
If you're like me and like certain magazine subscriptions, make sure to properly dispose of them in your recycling bin once you're finished reading. You could even pass the magazines on to friends or family.
These are just some of the ways you can celebrate Earth Day and make the world a better place. If you want more insight on how to make the most out of Earth Day, make sure to educate yourself on sustainable practices and environmental causes. Small steps can make a big impact!
