I've definitely been stepping up my salad game since spring began.  The fridge is constantly packed with a plethora of salad ingredients like chopped Romaine lettuce and veggies.  Our cabinets are stocked with croutons and other salad toppings. But one ingredient has really made an impact in the salads I've been making.  Are you ready for this?

STEAK BACON!

Yup!  It's a thing!  I've been using Godshall's Real Wood Smoked Angus Steak Bacon in everything from burgers, steak and egg style breakfast dishes, and my favorite crispy green salads!  And it cooks just like pork bacon so I can quickly add delicious strips of steak bacon to any dish!

Taking inspiration from classic Black and Blue recipes, I've created a salad that's full of similar flavors like seasoned Angus beef, fresh veggies, and healthy topping of crumbled blue cheese!

Black and Blue Steak Bacon Salad

This Black and Blue Steak Bacon Salad easily comes together on a crispy bed of Romaine lettuce.  It's topped with onion, grape tomatoes, avocado, crumbled blue cheese, and mouthwatering strips of Godshall's Angus Steak Bacon.

The first thing we need to do is cook our Angus Steak Bacon.  Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium heat and add the bacon.  Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side.  Then, remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside on a paper towel.

Next, we're going to start assembling the rest of our salad.  Add the chopped Romaine to a large salad bowl.  Then, add the onion, grape tomatoes, avocado, and crumbled blue cheese (or gorgonzola).

Don't forget the bacon!  Cut the bacon strips into 1-inch pieces and add to the salad.  Then, toss the salad to combine all of the ingredients.

Drizzle the blue cheese dressing over the salad and once again toss to combine.  Add the croutons and serve the salad immediately.
