Buffalo Chicken Burgers with Blue Cheese

These wing inspired Buffalo chicken burgers are made with a mix of ground chicken, Buffalo sauce, celery, blue cheese, and seasonings. They're flavorful and delicious with just the right amount of spice!

We probably eat burgers at least once a week this time of year.  I'm talking about all beef patties, venison burgers, turkey burgers, and I'll even have a plant based burger from time-to-time.  Up until now, I've never really thought about having chicken burgers.  But the thought crossed my mind when I wondered if I could make easy Buffalo chicken patties.

We are big fans of Buffalo chicken anything!  So when I put these burgers together, I knew they'd be a hit!  The patties come together easily with ground chicken, celery, Buffalo sauce, garlic powder, and crumbled blue cheese.  Then, the burgers are cooked on the grill (they can even be made on an indoor grill pan or cast iron skillet) and topped with a variety of fixings.

The burger mixture will feel a bit "loose," but the patties are still pretty easy to form.  If you find that the patties are too loose for your liking, stick them in the fridge, or freezer, to chill for a bit.  You could also add bread crumbs to the mixture (about a tablespoon should do).

And if you love the taste of Buffalo sauce, but you're not big on heat, I totally recommend Hungryroot's vegan Buffalo sauce.  Even though it's made with cayenne pepper, it doesn't pack as much heat as other brands.  It gives these burgers a really nice flavor!

Buffalo Chicken Burgers with Blue Cheese

Serve these easy Buffalo chicken burgers on toasted buns.  Load them up with lettuce, tomato, a splash of Buffalo sauce, and more crumbled blue cheese on top, if desired.

Let's start these burgers by making the patties.  Add the ground chicken, celery, blue cheese, and garlic powder to a mixing bowl.  Season the mixture with salt and pepper.  Then, use your hands to mix everything together.

Form the mixture into patties.  Place the burgers on the grill over a medium flame.  Cook for about 7 minutes on one side.  Then, carefully flip and cook for another 6 minutes, or until they're completely cooked through and no longer pink in the middle.

Once cooked, add the patties to burger buns, load up the toppings, and serve!

Ingredients
  

  • 10 oz. ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup celery minced
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 2 tbsp. Buffalo sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: Buffalo sauce crumbled blue cheese, lettuce, and tomato

Instructions
 

  • Mix ground chicken, celery, blue cheese, Buffalo sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl until combined. Form mixture into four patties.
  • Cook chicken burgers on grill over medium flame for 7-8 minutes.
  • Carefully flip the burgers and cook for about 5-6 minutes, or until no longer pink in the middle.
  • Assemble burgers by placing lettuce on the bottom half of a bun. Top with tomato, burger patty, extra Buffalo sauce, and crumbled blue cheese. Serve immediately.
