DIY Easter Jelly Soaps

These fun and jiggly DIY Easter Jelly Soaps are made with liquid soap, gelatin, and a cute silicone Easter egg and bunny mold! Use them as an Easter basket gift or a fun way to wash up!

It's been about a hundred years since I've been to a Lush store.  Like I don't think the shower jellies were even a thing the last time I bought Lush products.  Actually, the only reason I probably know that shower jellies exist is because of social media!  And now, I don't even need to take a 20-30 minute drive to Lush to get them.  I can make my own!

So for Easter, I thought I would make some jelly soaps that celebrate the season.  I wanted to keep a couple in our bathroom and make a bunch to share.  Originally, I wanted to make Easter eggs.  But then I found a silicone mold at JOANN's that also had a bunny face and bunny butt in it and was the perfect size for soaps (similar here)!

What are Jelly Soaps?

If you're unfamiliar with jelly soaps, they're fun, jiggly soaps that are squishy like jelly!  Unlike melt-and-pour soaps, these soaps are made with liquid hand soap and gelatin.

If using clear soap, you can add different colors with soap coloring dye or food coloring.  If the liquid soap is unscented, you can add fragrance with essential oils or fragrance made for soap making.  You can also turn them into a multitude of fun shapes using silicone molds.

And using them is easy!  Later up with an entire soap jelly or cut them into smaller pieces.  Then, store them in the fridge or at room temperature in an airtight container.  That'll keep them from drying out when they're not in use.

DIY Easter Jelly Soaps

If you're looking for a non-candy Easter gift to add to baskets, or just want to decorate your bathroom with adorable bunnies and Easter eggs, these Easter Jelly Soaps are fun and easy to make!

If you're planning to make different soap colors, make sure you have small bowls or disposable cups handy.  Then, add gelatin to a medium-sized mixing bowl.  Add the boiled water and whisk until dissolved.

Next, stir the liquid soap into the gelatin mixture.  If you'd like to change the soap color, stir in a couple drops of food coloring or soap dye.  At this time, you can also add essential oil or soap fragrance.

You could also make multiple colors by dividing the soap mixture into small bowls or disposable cups.  Then, mix each bowl or cup with different food coloring or soap dye.

Now, we're going to start pouring the soap mixture into the mold.  But first, you might want to add the silicone mold to a small baking sheet to keep it sturdy.  Then, pour or spoon the soap mixture into each cavity.  If desired, spray rubbing spray on top of the soaps to pop the bubbles.

Place the soaps into the fridge.  It will take about two hours for the soaps to set.  Once they've set, pop the soaps out of the mold.  Make sure to store the soaps in the fridge or in a jar at room temperature.

  1. Add the gelatin to a medium mixing bowl.  Carefully pour in the boiling water and whisk until the gelatin has dissolved.
  2. Stir in the liquid soap.  At this time, you can also stir in a couple drops of food coloring and/or fragrance.
    1. If making multiple colors, divide the soap mixture between small bowls or disposable cups.  Then, stir in different colors.
  3.  Next, place the silicone mold onto a baking sheet.  Carefully spoon or pour the soap mixture into each cavity of the mold.  If desired, spray the tops of each soap with rubbing alcohol to pop the bubbles.
  4. Place the soaps into the fridge and allow them to set for at least 2 hours.
  5. Once set, the soaps can be removed from the mold.
  6. Store the soaps in an airtight container or in a jar between uses.

If you want to give these soaps out as gifts, they would look super cute inside a DIY Bunny Mason Jar! Or place one or two (depending on the size of your mold) into a jar.  Then, decorate it with ribbon and an Easter gift tag.
