I'm usually pretty bad at remembering to buy cards for birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions. But then I got my Cricut Joy and it's made a world of difference! I love making cards! Cards have become one of my all-time favorite Cricut Joy crafts to make. If you're like me and need a last minute card for your mom, I've got you covered today with a Schitt's Creek themed Mother's Day card project!
I totally blame my mother for my obsession with Schitt's Creek. She had mentioned the show to me multiple times before I finally started watching it. I began binging on the Rose family's journey right before the pandemic started. Since that initial viewing, I have watched the show numerous times!
I wanted to use our love for the show as inspiration for a handmade Mother's Day card, so I created a simple design using my Cricut Joy. This card features a Moira Rose design using Cricut Joy compatible pens and cutouts.
How to Make This Schitt's Creek Mother's Day Card
Open up this Mother's Day card project in Design Space. This project is already sized to fit the 4.25 in x 5.5 in insert cards so you won't need to customize anything. Hit “Make It” and you'll be brought to this next screen.
Load a card insert onto the card mat and load the card mat into the Cricut Joy.
You'll have to load a black Fine Point Pen into the clamp and continue. This step will draw the outline of Moira's face and the "Happy Mother's Day" text.
Once that step is finished, load a black Glitter Gel Pen into the clamp and proceed to the next step. This step will draw the word "bébé."
Load the blade back into the clamp and proceed to cut out the images and card corners. Then, carefully pop out the cut images from the card. I added a music note for the Jazzagals, a wine glass for Moira's fruit wine commercial, a wig (obvious reasons), and a feather for the "Crows Have Eyes" movie.
Cricut's drawing function doesn't fill in drawings for you. If you want a filled in drawing, you'll have to color it in yourself. I left Moira as an outline and filled in "bébé" with black glitter pen.
All that's left to do is pop in an insert (I used a gold glitter insert), write your card, and give it to mom!

Best wishes and warmest regards, moms!
If you got your crafting skills from your mama, you might want to treat her to a new Cricut Joy (or one of Cricut's other machines) for Mother's Day! It's definitely a gift that will keep on giving year after year!
