DIY Adult Coloring Tote Bag

I don’t know about you, but I am all about the adult coloring trend!  I have loved coloring books ever since I was little.  Coloring books and stickers were my life and, recently, my love for both has been revived! So when Groupon posted an offer to turn photographs into printable coloring pages for $5, I jumped on it!  I had a white tote bag and a whole lot of photos I thought about using for this project.  Of course, I chose to use a photo of my dog.

I loved the process of being able to turn my photos into a printable coloring page.  It was easy!  I was able to edit, erase backgrounds, add lines, and change the thickness of those lines to create my coloring page.  The printable coloring pages are e-mailed to me so I can do whatever I want with them.  I suppose you can do the same thing in editing software with a pencil sketch effect.  The lines might not be as clean, but you’ll achieve a similar effect.  Then, I took my coloring page, adding some text and graphics, and printed it on fusible fabric.

  2. Set an iron to medium heat and fuse the fabric sheet to the tote bag, making sure all areas are completely fused to the fabric.
  3. Use fabric markers to color in your image.
  4. Rock your colorful, new tote bag!

This was probably one of the most fun projects I’ve recently made!  Use a children’s coloring image to DIY a tote into a school bag for your young son or daughter.  That same concept could be used for gifts for grandparents and parents, too!  Happy coloring!

I’ve included the image I used just in case you want to download and color it.  If you do color this image, I would love to see it!  Make sure to share it on social media using the hashtag, #livinglavidadiy
