Halloween is all about spooky fun and candy. Especially the candy! But it doesn't have to be just about the sugar rush and junk food. You can make a spooky good treat using healthier ingredients with just as much sweetness! Since it's that time of year when pitted dates are readily available for celebrations like Rosh Hashanah and Diwali, I decided to give them a scary makeover for Halloween.

We're basically going to make a bunch of almond butter stuffed dates. So good. Right? But for Halloween, we're going to add some "monster teeth" to them. Once the dates and split in half and stuffed with almond butter, we're going to carefully placed some sliced almonds inside to make them look like little monster mouths! Really cute - I mean, terrifying!

This really is such a simple snack idea for spooky season! Whether you're having a Halloween party or a scary movie marathon, you can whip these up in no time. You could also play around with fillings. Add Nutella or crunchy peanut butter instead of almond butter. Or go a bit more savory with fillings like cream cheese, brie, or goat cheese.

Almond Butter Stuffed Monster Dates

Halloween snacking doesn't get any easier than this recipe! Especially if you're looking for something sweet that's a bit healthier. If your craving for sweets includes chocolate, you could even dip these little monster dates in dark chocolate, let the chocolate solidify, and enjoy!

These stuffed dates are super easy to make. I mean, it'll take minutes depending on how many you make. Make sure you grab pitted dates or else you'll need to remove the pit after slicing.

To get this Halloween snack started, we need to slice the dates in half. Carefully create a slit on one side of the date keeping the other side intact.

Once all of the dates are sliced, we can stuff them with almond butter. Fill them good, but not so much that it spills out of the date. You want to keep room for the almond slice "teeth."

Carefully press the almond slices inside the dates. Let them stick out haphazardly to create a creepy monster look.

And that's it! Serve the dates immediately. These are best enjoyed the day you make them. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. They should be good for about a week.
