With Valentine’s Day coming up, I wanted to create a sweet and spicy (or “swicy”) recipe - because Valentine’s Day itself is a little sweet and spicy. I started thinking about my current foodie obsessions and landed on this Valentine’s Day worthy chocolate hummus. It’s lightly sweet, slightly spicy, and a whole lot of delicious - especially when paired with fresh, juicy berries and other fruit.
If you’ve never had chocolate hummus before, you’re seriously missing out. The combination of cocoa, cinnamon, and vanilla completely disguises the chickpeas and tahini, leaving you with a smooth, creamy, chocolaty dip that’s perfect for dipping fruit and satisfying sweet cravings. Plus, it's a totally healthy treat that's super easy to make!
I decided to give chocolate hummus a slight Valentine's Day makeover by adding just a hint of spice. The chocolaty base is still simply made with chickpeas, tahini, cocoa powder, and honey and vanilla for sweetness. To add a subtle kick to this dessert hummus recipe, I also mixed in cayenne pepper to add extra warmth alongside the cinnamon.

It's made with simple, wholesome ingredients and comes together quickly in a food processor or blender. It's also easy to adjust depending on how sweet or spicy you like it.
To start this dessert hummus recipe, we need to add the chickpeas, tahini, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, chili powder, and salt to a food processor or blender.
Blend the ingredients until smooth and add cold water, just a little at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
Give the hummus a taste and adjust the sweetness or spice to your liking. Chill in the fridge for 20-30 minutes. Then, serve with strawberries, raspberries, apples, or pears.
