I know that it feels like September just started and you’re probably already being bombarded with pumpkin everything.  Well, I’m not going to help you out much today.  At least this isn’t a post about pumpkin spice lattes, right (ooh, pumpkin spice lattes)?  Instead, today I’m sharing a way to dress up your air plants for Halloween.

If you’re anything like me, then you have air plants all over your house.  I can’t help it!  They’re easy to maintain and perfect for DIY plant projects!  As much as I love succulents, I kind of suck at keeping them alive.  I consider them the “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” of the low maintenance plant world.  They’re either too hot, too cold, too dry, too wet, kept in too much light, or not enough.

So to play it safe, I’ve been sticking with air plants.  Knock on wood, I’ve been doing pretty well with them so far!  In the summer, I’ve been soaking them in water once a week and that’s been keeping them pretty happy. I’ve even had one of my air plants bloom like crazy at the beginning of summer!

Now that it’s almost fall, I wanted to incorporate them into my fall/Halloween decor.  So I bought some stemless bell cups and painted them as adorable, little jack-o-lanterns!  They’re such a fun way to add to your Halloween decor and keep some green in the house long after summer’s over.

SUPPLIES

  • Stemless bell cups

STEPS

  1. Paint the outside of the bell cup orange.  You may need two coats of paint depending on the brand and color you use.
  2. Allow paint to dry completely.  Then, use the black marker pen to draw jack-o-lantern faces on the bell cups.
  3. Let marker dry completely.  Then, add air plants and display!
