Ever since Hunter was a puppy, we've kept a weekly wellness routine for him. He quickly got used to being groomed (he actually really likes getting brushed), getting his teeth brushed, and having his ears cleaned. Probably because he knows he'll get rewarded with a treat when he's all done!
Do you have a wellness routine for your pet? Just like us, it's so important to protect our pets and keep their health in top shape on a daily basis. So today I'm going to share some of the essentials we use for Hunter's weekly wellness routine.
Health and Wellness Essentials for Your Dog
Hunter is a Cairn Terrier. He's better known as a "Toto dog" to most people! His breed is prone to skin issues like allergies. So it's especially important to keep his skin and coat healthy and moisturized.
We first noticed he had sensitive skin as a puppy. He would itch and scratch like crazy! Our vet recommended that we switch him to a grain-free diet. That's been a big help! But it's also nice to have a supplement to add to his meals that will keep his skin moisturized and his coat nice and shiny.
We also introduced a weekly tooth and ear cleaning routine to Hunter when he was a puppy. Every week he gets his teeth cleaned (we try for twice a week and substitute brushings with dental treats in between) and his ears cleaned as well. He sits well for brushings and hair cuts. The bath...well, that's not as much fun, but we use oatmeal shampoo to help his skin issues.
- Wild Alaskan Salmon & Pollock Fish Oil
- Dog Ear Cleaner Solution
- Dog Ear Wipes
- Between Bath Pet Wipes
- Tartar Control Toothpaste for Dogs
- Dog Toothbrush
- Oatmeal Dog Shampoo
- Natural Flea Killing Spray
- Relax & Roll Calming Soft Chews
- Salmon Strips Dog Treats
- Pet Grooming Kit
- Two Sided Pet Grooming Brush
These are just some of the things we use for Hunter's weekly routine. I've also added a few additional items that we keep on hand for him (like the natural flea spray).
If you recently got a new puppy or just want to make sure your dog's staying healthy, consider creating a weekly wellness routine for them!
I have to check these out for our labradoodle!
I totally recommend them! Hunter absolutely LOVES those jerky treats and looks forward to the dental treats, too.
These are all excellent tips!
Thank you!
Such great tips for keeping the fur babies happy & healthy during the winter! 🙂 I have a feeling that our Charlie would love those dental chews.
Thanks! Hunter looks forward to his daily dental chew! I'm sure Charlie would love them, too!
This is really smart. I change up my health routine during winter so it makes sense to change up my pet's too.
Thanks! I know my skin takes a toll during the cold, dry months. Hunter's skin definitely does, too!
I don't have pets so I'm just here for cute doggy pics!!!
I hope you enjoyed them! 🙂
this is really important! even i forget that we have to boost the pet's immune system this time of year!
Yes! We like to think our pets naturally have it covered, but sometimes it's nice to give them a healthy boost!
So many great tips in this post!
Thank you!
My parents pups tend to have some issues in the colder months. Passing this along to them. Thanks
I hope they find these tips useful and helpful this winter!
