While I was making my Savory Shark Bait Snack Mix back in the July, I realized that the broken ramen noodle pieces would make great zombie brains! That's just how my Halloween obsessed mind works. So I wrote down a Halloween snack mix idea with plans to revisit it closer to fall.
Well, we're officially into fall and the start of spooky season and I couldn't wait to mix up a batch of this zombiefied snack! I even drew a sketch of what I wanted to include in this mix to make sure that it looked the part. I really wanted it to be obvious that it was a zombie inspired snack and I think I accomplished that!
This snack mix starts with mini pretzels, almonds, and pumpkin seeds. Then, I added in my zombie elements - candy eyeballs, Harvest Snaps green pea "fingers," and ramen noodle "brains." But to take it one step further, I grabbed red edible color spray and sprayed the ramen to make bloody brains!
Halloween Zombie Snack Mix
I'm all about a good snack mix to munch on while watching a classic Halloween movie or a scary TV show (I'm currently hooked on The Vampire Diaries). Not only is this snack mix tasty, besides the candy eyes it's totally candy-free. It's actually a healthier choice for Halloween!
If you're not planning on spraying the ramen with spray food coloring, you can just go ahead and toss everything together in a bowl and serve. But I always like to be a little extra when it comes to spooky season.
Make sure you prep a surface with something like wax paper or parchment paper before spraying because you will end up with overspray. In fact, you might even want to take this part of the recipe outside because it gets messy!
Then, break the ramen noodles into chunks and spread them out on the paper. Shake the can and lightly spray 8 inches away. Allow the ramen to dry and then flip and spray the other side.
While the ramen noodles are drying, add the rest of the ingredients to a large mixing bowl and toss. Once the ramen has dried, add it to the mix and gently toss.
Serve the snack mix immediately or store in an airtight container.
