How to Make 3-D Halloween Art

You didn’t think I’d let the first week of October slip by without sharing another Halloween project?  Did you?  I started decorating the house for Halloween at the end of last week.  Every time I walk passed one of my Halloween decorations, I get extremely happy.

Second to Christmas, my next favorite holiday to decorate for has got to be Halloween!  I have A TON of Christmas decorations, but my Halloween decorations are definitely catching up.  I may have to start another storage bin for them after this year!

When we’re not celebrating this spooky time of year, you won’t find me anywhere near creepy, crawly bugs! But for Halloween, I’ll add them to my decor – well, as long as they’re plastic!  If you add glitter to them, even better!  It might take some of the scare out of them, but they definitely look super cool when glued onto a black canvas!

SUPPLIES

  • 8 x 8 wrapped canvas
  • Black paint
  • Foam brush (2)
  • Plastic spiders
  • Mod Podge
  • Black glitter
  • Hot glue gun and gluesticks

STEPS

  1. Paint your entire canvas with black paint.
  2. While paint is drying, cover plastic spiders with a layer of Mod Podge.
  3. Pour a little black glitter into a dish and dip spiders into glitter.
  4. Gently shake excess glitter off of spiders.  Allow glue to dry completely.
  5. Once the canvas and glittered spider are dry, heat your glue gun.
  6. While your glue gun is heating, figure out the placement of your spiders.
  7. Glue the spiders onto the canvas.
  8. Allow glue to dry.  Then, hang or display your new 3-D Halloween art!

Halloween doesn’t get any chicer than this!  This all black, monochrome project comes with a little pop!  It’s just enough “boo” to scare up your Halloween decor, with enough glitz and glamour so it doesn’t frighten your ghoulish guests away!

These are so cool and creepy. My daughter wants to be an entomologist and I’m pretty sure if I made these she would want to keep them up in her room all year! Thank you for stopping by https://diyhshp.blogspot.com and linking it up to More the Merrier Monday. I can’t wait to see what you link up next Monday.
