If you've been a longtime reader of my blog, then you know that beauty and haircare isn't the usual content that I write about. But if you've been following me on Instagram, then you know that my hair has been through quite a transition over the past month or so. Blame it on Covid!
I started my latest hair color journey before my husband and I ended up quarantined for about 10 days. It began with some face framing highlights added to my dark brown hair. All done DIY, of course. While we were stuck at home, I decided to go lighter - and lighter - until I was rocking a coppery blonde-ish hair color with blonde face framing highlights.
At first, I really liked it. It made me feel slightly like Carrie Bradshaw. But as the days went on, I started to hate it. And soon, I couldn't wait to dye my hair a darker color again.
My Favorite Hydrating Hair Care Products
Despite all the changes that my hair went through, I was able to keep it from being completely fried with some amazing hydrating hair care products!
If your hair has gone through a recent color change, or you use heat styling tools regularly, or even if your hair just needs a hydrating boost, here are some of my favorite hydrating hair care products! They're easy to use and will leave your locks feeling soft, shiny, and moisturized!
Cake Beauty Hair Mask Set
One of my new favorite masks is Cake Beauty's Smooth Move mask. First, the mask smells incredible! It's thick and creamy and really absorbs into each strand, making hair feel soft, moisturized, and luxurious! Cake Beauty Hair Mask Set, $10.26
Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Deep Nourishing Conditioning Treatment
This is another great hair mask! It contains coconut oil and shea butter, which are super hydrating for the hair. This treatment leaves hair feeling hydrated and smooth. Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Deep Nourishing Conditioning Treatment, $3.49
Coco & Eve Micracle Hair Elixir
This product is like gold to me and you'd have to pry it from my cold, dead hands to take it away! Because my hair is dry, I use it on both dried and damp hair. A little goes a long way so the bottle will last you. It also smells amazing and leaves hair shiny and smooth! Coco & Eve Miracle Hair Elixir, $29.90 and worth every penny!
Argan Oil Hair Mask
This is one of my favorite hair masks! It's full of good stuff like jojoba oil, keratin, argan oil, and collagen. It's creamy with tiny beads in it that you massage into the hair. It leaves hair feeling soft and moisturized! Argan Oil Hair Mask, $9.95
Marc Anthony Grow Long Biotin Leave In Conditioner Spray & Detangler
This is a recent addition to my haircare collection. The leave in conditioner is better when you spray it into your hands and distribute it throughout your hair. Don't use too much or you'll end up with a sticky hair texture. But once the hair dries, it feels so nice! Marc Anthony Grow Long Biotin Leave In Conditioner Spray & Detangler, $7.67
Marc Anthony Grow Long Hair Mask for Dry Damaged Hair
Is there such thing as too many hair masks? This is another newly tried haircare product for me. This mask is creamy, but not heavy. I feel like the moisture absorbs right into my hair leaving it feeling so soft! Marc Anthony Grow Long Hair Mask for Dry Damaged Hair, $8.99
Zhou Nutrition Hairfluence Gummies
You might be thinking, "Jess, why did you include vitamins to hair care products?" Well, because it's said that beauty starts from within. These tasty gummy vitamins contain B vitamins, biotin, and keratin to help promote healthy hair! Zhou Nutrition Hairfluence Gummies, $22.99
Aveeno Farm-Fresh Oat Milk Sulfate-Free Shampoo
I'm a big fan of hair and body care with oat products in it. This shampoo helps moisturize hair with oats and almond milk. Its gentle formula is good for all hair types and it leaves hair feeling cleansed and soft. Aveeno Farm-Fresh Oat Milk Sulfate-Free Shampoo, $6.36
Aveeno Farm-Fresh Oat Milk Sulfate-Free Conditioner
Just like the shampoo, this oat and almond milk infused conditioner leaves hair feeling soft and moisturized. I definitely recommend using it with the shampoo. Aveeno Farm-Fresh Oat Milk Sulfate-Free Conditioner, $6.21
Fanola No Orange Shampoo
This isn't the most hydrating item on my list, but I thought I'd add it anyway. It's come in handy. Even as a brunette, I'm thankful to have a blue shampoo on hand to tone down the red in my hair. While most purple and blue shampoos can be drying, this shampoo contains coconut oil. It's not as harsh, but I still only use it about once a week. Fanola No Orange Shampoo, $9.80
Overall, I don't regret my hair color journey. I'm glad that I was able to get the dark brown-almost black color out of my hair and end up with a chocolaty medium brown. I'm just happy I had an arsenal of hydrating hair care products to keep my hair from becoming a damaged disaster!
