DIY Wedding Day Survival Kit

After getting an EasyPress for my birthday in July, I kept it in its carrying case for a pretty long time.  Do you ever buy a new tool or machine and get totally intimidated by it?  That's kind of how it was for me with the EasyPress.  I don't know why!  It's basically just a big, square iron!  But I think it was more of the process leading up to the EasyPress that intimidated me.

The first time I tried to make a t-shirt, I did everything wrong!  I cut on the wrong side of the iron-on vinyl and didn't flip the image.  It was a hot mess!  Let's just say that after making a bunch of different t-shirts and a couple other things, I've finally gotten the hang of it!  I've been having fun making t-shirts and personalized gifts for friends and family!

My little sister's bridal shower was last weekend.  I wanted to give her a handmade gift that's not only cute, but completely practical for the day of her wedding!  Well, probably more like the morning of.  So I put together a little wedding survival kit in a personalized canvas makeup bag.

The bag has "bride" on the front of it made with glitter iron-on vinyl.  I stuffed the bag will all sorts of toiletries and essentials bought from the dollar store (cheap and easy).  I might even sneak a small bottle of liquor in there at some point!

Things to include in the DIY Wedding Day Survival Kit

• Safety pins
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste
• Floss
• Tissues
• Dry shampoo
• Nail file
• Band-aids
• Razor
• Chapstick
• Bobby pins
• Hair ties
• Chewing gum
• Aspirin
• Small bottle of liquor

SUPPLIES

• Canvas bag
• "Bride" image, or script font
• Cricut Explore Air 2 
• Glitter iron-on vinyl
• Weeding tools
• Cricut EasyPress
• EasyPress mat

STEPS

1. Open Design Space.  Upload and edit your image, or create the word "Bride" with a script font.
2. Mirror the image and cut the vinyl, shiny side down.
3. Once the vinyl is cut, weed the image.
4. Preheat your EasyPress to 320 degrees.
5. Once the EasyPress is preheated, preheat the canvas bag for about 5 seconds.
6. Place the vinyl cutout on the canvas bag and heat with the EasyPress for 3o seconds.
7. Let the vinyl cool slightly.  Then, carefully peel the backing off.

This is such a simple Cricut craft, but makes a great gift for new brides. Whether they use the kit the morning of their wedding or during their honeymoon, they'll be thankful to have those extra essentials on hand just in case!

This bag was so cute and so easy to make that I ended up making a "Mother of the Bride" bag for my mom.  The only difference is it's a little smaller and I added more tissues.  She's going to need them!
