These salty-sweet Witch Hat Halloween Pretzel Treats are a great way to make Halloween baking a family tradition or use up leftover Halloween candy!

Lately, I've been reading up about Dia de los Muertos celebrations outside of Mexico. Did you know that the Day of the Dead is a three day celebration in Spain? In Spain, Halloween is called Dia de los Brujas, or Day of the Witches. It's the first day of the celebration, which honors loved ones who have passed on.
In America, Halloween is totally commercialized and over-the-top. The amount spent on candy and costumes each year (BILLIONS) is insane! Of course, my house is definitely a part of that number. Especially since the commercialization of this spooky holiday has trickled down into the pet industry. Hunter's had his share of costumes and Halloween treats!
Although some parts of Spain celebrate Halloween with pumpkins, candy, and costumes, it has more of a traditional, family feel to it. Some of the bigger cities in Spain are said to glamorize the holiday, like we do, but it's mainly a family celebration. Families gather together to honor the dead and celebrate the living.
It got me thinking about our own Halloween traditions. As much as I love Halloween, our little family's traditions are lacking. We haven't had a lot of trick-or-treaters, if any, the past few years. Any candy that I buy ends up eaten by my husband (which I know he doesn't mind too much) or I'll make bags of sweets for my family. I used to love dressing up, but now that I spend Halloween at home, what's the point (although I did buy a cat ear headband this year)?
Despite all of that, we still have a few traditions that have lived on throughout the years. For instance, on October 1st, the Halloween decorations come out. Okay, let me be completely honest - the decorations came out a couple weeks earlier than that this year. I am a blogger! But the majority of our outdoor decorations went up on the 1st.
In a few weeks, we'll be picking out our pumpkins and painting them. I'll probably buy a small one to roast for puree and the seeds. We skip carving and paint stencils on our pumpkins with black paint. Then we cover that paint with a coat of glow-in-the-dark paint. I also make some Halloween themed treats to enjoy while we paint our pumpkins.
I already have so much Halloween candy on hand, so I decided to put some to use last weekend to really kick off the Halloween season. If you love salty-sweet treats, you'll love these chocolate pretzel witch hats! They're made with round pretzels, Hershey Kisses, Twizzlers Pull'N'Peel, and Halloween sprinkles!
Witch Hat Halloween Pretzel Treats
Ingredients
- 12 round pretzels
- 24 Hershey Kisses unwrapped
- Twizzlers Pull'N'Peel Fruit Punch Candy
- Halloween sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with foil and non-stick cooking spray.
- Separate the orange and purple Pull'N'Peels. Then, cut them in approximately 2-inch strips.
- Place pretzels onto the baking sheet. Then, place a Hershey Kiss in the center of the pretzel.
- Bake for 2-3 minutes or until the Hershey Kisses become glossy.
- Remove from heat and immediately press another Hershey Kiss into the center of the pretzel.
- Working quickly, wrap the Pull'N'Peel around the base of the Hershey Kiss.
- Then, sprinkle Halloween sprinkles on top.
- Remove the foil from the baking sheet and set witch hat pretzels in the fridge to harden.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
