I don't have a TikTok account. Frankly, I feel like I'm too old to have one. So I find out about viral TikTok hacks through my sisters or Facebook and Instagram shares. I've tried that baked feta and tomato pasta and have been super inspired by CleanTok. But the one thing I've really wanted to try is pasta chips!
Pasta is life. Right? So I knew I'd love this viral TikTok snack! With Halloween coming up, I decided to try making pasta chips with a spooky twist! Of course, this recipe is easy enough to tweak and enjoy any time of year. Just ditch the food coloring!
Now, I'm not a huge fan of using food coloring in my recipe creations. But for the sake of spooky season, I'm breaking out some black food coloring to turn bowtie pasta into bats! Mmm, crunchy bat wings dipped into tasty marinara sauce!
Air Fryer Halloween Bat Pasta Chips
Okay. So let me just say that no bats were harmed in the making of this recipe. Obviously! These pasta chips are just bowtie/farfalle pasta dyed with black food coloring, tossed with olive oil, seasoned with garlic, salt and pepper, and air fried until they're crispy and delicious!
The first thing you're going to do is cook your pasta until it's al dente. Then, drain the pasta and allow it to cool.
Once the pasta is cooked, pop it in a Ziploc bag and add a few drops of the black food coloring. Shake the bag to coat the pasta with the food coloring.
Let the pasta marinade in that food coloring for a few minutes. Then, rinse the pasta under cold water to remove any excess food coloring.
Pat the pasta dry and add to a mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, add seasonings, and toss to coat. Then, add the pasta to the air fryer basket.
Air fry the pasta for 8-10 at 400 degrees until the pasta is nice and crispy. Then, serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
