♪ Come little children, I'll take thee away, into the land of enchantment. ♫

Halloween is just a week away!  I'm a little sad about it, honestly.  I feel like the fall flew by this year and most of it still felt like summer.  I never got to go apple picking and I'm still waiting on the leaves to change to go on a photo walk.  But one thing that I did do was enjoy some of my favorite Halloween movies!  I have my list of favorites.  I've probably watched the old classics like Dracula, Frankenstein, Psycho, and The Birds multiple times.  Then, I threw in some childhood faves like The Addams Family and, of course, Hocus Pocus!

I've basically watched Hocus Pocus every time it's on TV, which has been a lot!  You've got a great cast, a talking black cat, a friendly zombie, and lots of Halloween high-jinks!  What's not to love?  So in honor of my favorite witchy sisters, I decided to make a Hocus Pocus Life Potion Cocktail.  In the movie, the Sanderson Sisters create a bright green potion to suck the life out of little children.  My potion is a little less dangerous!  Well, in moderation, anyway!

Bringeth to a full rousing bubble, then add two drops oil of boil and a dead man's toe. Next, add a dab of newt saliva, dash of pox. Stir thrice. One final thing and all is done: add a piece of thine own tongue. Administer one drop to victim and stand back. When victim's life force shows, inhale the glowing aura. When the aura is extinguished, the victim is dead and you shall be young again.

The Sanderson Sisters' spell for this recipe is one you won't find in my kitchen.  A little too gruesome for my liking!  So I thought I'd put a tastier twist on this potion.

Add white rum and Sour Apple Pucker over ice.  Shake it gently twice or thrice.  Top with lemon-lime soda, add edible glitter, then watch the magic begin!  Stir and watch the glitter spin!  Sip this glowing potion and feel revived!  Serve on Halloween to watch the witching hour come alive!

At the end of the movie, you can see a bottle of the Life Potion being tossed in the air.  It's a darker green than my potion.  During these modern times, a witch doesn't like to use a lot of artificial color in her potions.  I'm keeping it real with a glowing green potion thanks to Apple Pucker and lemon-lime sparkling water!  Bottom's up, witches!
