New year, same me.  I've just been making a few changes to become the best version of myself this year.  After a holiday season of overindulging on everything from heavy dishes full of cream and butter, sugar-loaded treats, and an extra glass or two of wine or eggnog, it was time to get back to some of my older, but much better habits.

January is Hot Tea Month and what better way to refresh our daily routines and celebrate Dry January than making time for a hot cup of tea!  One of my favorite teas is green tea.  And when I feel like having an extra boost of energy and nutrients, I drink matcha green tea.  Matcha is a bit more potent than green tea.  You're drinking the whole tea leaf rather than just an infusion.

Matcha tea can be a bit strong in flavor.  It's smooth, but tastes a little "green" and sort of grassy (it's hard to explain unless you've tried it yourself).  So to take some of the edge off, I like to make matcha lattes and add Torani Sugar Free Coconut Syrup.

Since I'm trying to ditch the sugar, Torani's Sugar Free Syrups allow me to easily flavor my beverages without any added sugar.  These syrups are made with Splenda and simple and thoughtfully sourced ingredients.

Lattes may seem intimidating to make, but I promise you that they're so easy!  All you need is matcha powder, a little water, some warm milk, and Torani Sugar Free Coconut Syrup to make a cozy matcha latte that tastes like a trip to the tropics!

The first thing you want to do is sift your matcha powder into a mug.  This isn't a necessary step, but it helps to prevent clumping and makes for a smoother matcha.

Add a tablespoon of hot water to the mug and stir it until the matcha becomes thick.

Stir in two tablespoons of Torani Sugar Free Coconut Syrup to give it a nice, tropical flavor and some sweetness without the sugar.

Then, you can make my favorite part - the froth!  I have a handheld frother that makes perfectly frothy milk in seconds.  But you can achieve the same frothy goodness by shaking warm milk in a jar.

Pour the milk into the matcha latte.  The froth will settle on top.  Then, you can add a sprinkle of toasted coconut chips for garnish and enjoy!
